Town of Kaukauna garbage collection
and recycling:
Veolia Environmental Services is now
picking up trash using a semi automated garbage truck
and a special refuse container cart.
Scheduled pickup will be every Monday morning.
Please have your cart curbside no later than 6 am.

DO NOT place the cart too close to mail
boxes as this will interfere with the cart grabber. Also,
please be sure the opening end if facing the road, with the
hinged end facing your residence.
The cart should be placed close to the road, but not
blocking the road. ALL GARBAGE MUST BE CONTAINED IN THE CART. Items not
placed in the refuse cart will not be collected.
New single stream recycling pickup by Inland Service
Corporation:
Recycling is collected every other Monday starting
July 6th 2009.

What is single stream recycling? You may now combine your mixed paper, metals, plastic and glass in
one recycling bin.
This DOES NOT mean you can include trash in your recycling bin, only
recyclable paper, plastic, metal and glass. Only plastics marked as #1
or #2 are recyclable. See details below. Please do not use plastic bags
- only a recycling bin or cardboard box.
All cardboard should be flat and no larger that 3' x 3' (36" x 36") in
size.
Be sure to place recyclables at least 4 feet away from trash containers.
This pickup is for residents only.
Garbage pickup is every week; Recycling pickup is
every other week.
Recycling is picked up on the same day as your garbage. To ensure
pickup, please place everything at least four (4) feet away from your
garbage polycart. All items need to be placed curb side by 6:00 a.m. on
day of pickup or the night before.
Recycling collection times are every other Monday:
Please separate paper items from plastics and cans.
You may use recycling containers or bag item in blue recycling bags.

Hint: add a new event to you MS Office calendar to keep track of
recycling dates.
Set it to recur every other week so you will always know when to
recycle.

Glass:
Recycle clear, green, brown, and tinted glass bottles, and jars.
Lids and caps should be removed.
There's no need to remove paper labels.
Bottles and jars should be rinsed.
ACCEPTABLE
Clear, brown, or green bottles and jars,
Soda, beer, juice, and all glass food containers, Blue, green, rose, and
yellow tinted glass.
NOT Acceptable
Ceramic cups, plates, and bottle tops
Clay flower pots, Drinking glasses, crystal
Plate glass, auto windshields, Opaque/milk glass, Laboratory glass,
Light bulbs, Ovenware, Window glass.
Plastics:
It is easy to determine which plastics can be recycled. Just look for
these symbols on the bottom of the plastic bottle:
Only plastic bottles code "1 " PET or "2" HDPE and used in the home,
with an opening smaller than the bottom, are acceptable. Containers with
a number 3 through 7 or with a mouth as wide as the bottom of the
container CAN'T be recycled. Rinse out:
Remove plastic lids and caps - throw lids and caps in regular refuse.
There's no need to remove paper labels.

Soda bottles
Peanut butter jars
Milk and water jugs
Laundry bottles (detergent, fabric softener, bleach, dish soap, ammonia)
Vinegar bottles
Shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and cosmetic bottles
Syrup, juice, cooking oil containers, etc.
NOT Acceptable
#1 BROWN plastic bottles
Motor oil bottles, all numbers
Plastic bottles with codes "3" through "7"
Caps and lids
Styrofoam or microwave containers
Solvent, paint, or adhesive containers
Medical supplies
Plastic toys, flower pots, or garden plastics
Pesticide or herbicide containers
ALL plastic bags (even those with "2" HDPE code)
Yogurt and cottage cheese containers, even if they are #1 or #2 plastic
Antifreeze bottles
Cans:
Aluminum, steel, and bi-metal cans may all be recycled.
Just rinse them out and put them in your recycling container.
Steel food cans up to one gallon in size are accepted for curbside
pickup.
Aluminum cans should remain uncrushed.

Paper:
Many types of paper products from your home can be recycled.
Corrugated boxes should be cut to a 3' x 3' size and flattened to save
space.
Paper products must be placed in a corrugated box, paper grocery bag, or
a reusable container that has a sticker on it from the County.
It is important that paper be dry and free of food residue or restroom
waste, and that plastic food liners be removed from boxes.

Newspapers and inserts
Magazines and all books
Junk mail and envelopes
Phone books and catalogs
Writing paper and copier paper
Corrugated cardboard
Grocery bags
Box board and non-corrugated cardboard
NOT Acceptable
Tissue products, frozen food, or dairy container boxes
Items contaminated with food residue
Items contaminated with bathroom waste
The specifications for the reusable container are as
follows:
The container must be instantly recognizable by the collectors by
placing stickers supplied by the County on the reusable container. (Call
1-800-501-1616, give them your name and address, and two stickers will
be sent to you in the mail.)
The reusable container must be between 15 and 33 gallons in size.
The reusable container must have external handles.
Containers that have an opening smaller than the base of the container
are unacceptable. The container, when filled, cannot exceed 50 pounds.
